Confirmation
United Covenant Church provides students in grades 7 and 8 the opportunity to spend two years studying the Christian faith and reflecting on their own commitment to God and the Church. The Evangelical Covenant Church provides a strong confirmation/discipleship curriculum entitled The Journey. The materials provide the students with exposure to broad themes in the Hebrew Scriptures (the Old Testament) and the Christian New Testament as well as an overview of the history of the Christian Church throughout the centuries. It also provides a brief history of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The students' life of faith is also developed through personal prayer exercises and journal writing exercises.
At the end of the confirmation/discipleship classes, the students celebrate with the entire congregation. A service of Confirmation is part of the regular Sunday morning worship service. This celebration usually takes place in late May or early June, preferably on Pentecost Sunday or Trinity Sunday. Confirmation is a wonderful time to celebrate our youth and their faith, as well as the ongoing growth we all experience as disciples of Jesus.
